Can I use a mechanical pencil on a machine scanned test?

I just took the “Otis-Lennon” and the “Naglieri” test. I used a mechanical pencil, and I am pretty sure it wasn’t number 2, to bubble the answers in, and right after we had taken the first test, the teacher told us that we can’t use mechanical pencils because it is machine scanned.

Is this true? Will I get all the questions wrong?

I was always told to use a No.2 pencil when taking a test. I’ve taken test with mechanical pencils and when I got the answer correct, the test showed that it was correct. I think that its alright to do so as long as its a No.2 pencil.
